5 things to do with you dog in Barcelona

In recent years, Barcelona has become an increasingly dog-friendly city. New parks, new laws, new pet-friendly restaurants: in Barcelona, there is no shortage of activities for our furry friends.

In this article, discover 5 things you can do with your dog in Barcelona.

1. Enjoy Barcelona's beaches

During the peak swimming season, the northern part of Llevant beach becomes a dog-friendly area. The Barcelona City Council installs barriers that physically separate the dog beach from the human beach. This swimming area is open from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm.

If you want to walk your dog on other beaches in Barcelona, a decree dated July 3, 2018 allows you to do so from the weekend after September 11 to the weekend before June 1 (outside of the swimming season). This does not apply to guide dogs or those on the northern part of Llevant beach mentioned above.

2. Visit Barcelona's city parks

There are several parks in Barcelona that are dog-friendly: Parc de la Ciutadella, Joan Brossa Gardens in Montjuïc, Parc del Guinardó, Carretera de les Aïgues and, most importantly, Parc Güell. Yes, you can visit them with your dog and you can both enjoy the genius of Gaudí.

There are also some parks that you can NOT visit with your dog, especially:

  • The Botanical Garden
  • Cervantes Park
  • Horta Labyrinth Park
  • Turó Park
  • Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens

3. Stroll and enjoy the city

Barcelona is a beautiful city with a unique architecture. We think that even dogs understand the genius of Gaudí when they see the Casa Batlló.

So, if you don't know Barcelona very well, don't think too much about it and go discover it with your dog and without too much planning. You can get lost in the streets of the historic center, walk by the Arc de Triomf or enjoy the Montjuic Park.

If you come by car, don't forget that you can book a parking space in Barcelona before you arrive.

4. Spend a fun afternoon at the Can Jané dog park

This park is located 40 minutes from Barcelona, near Granollers, and it's a dog's paradise!

Huge pools, slides, canoes, dune areas, gardens – it's every dog's dream.
