With the sun setting earlier and the nights becoming even longer, it’s only natural that more of our doggie walks will happen in the dark. But how can we make sure our pups are as safe as possible when it’s harder to see them? Should we always keep them on the leash?
Well, reflective dog collars might be the answer. Of course, you should take the same safety measures as you would during the day, but a reflective dog collar allows you and others to know exactly where your pup is in poor visibility.

Before buying anything for your dog, there are certain things you need to think about to make sure you’re getting the best product available to suit both of your needs.
- How reflective is it? Some collars are only reflective in a certain area. You want to make sure you get a collar that has reflective parts all the way around so you can see your pet from all angles regardless of the weather, their hair length, or which way they're facing.
- Durability. Our pups love to play, run, dig around in bushes and go on walks in all weather conditions. The collar has to be able to withstand whatever your dog puts it through (or nearly)! Reflective collars made from nylon are a great choice.
- Size. It might be an obvious one but make sure the collar comes in your dog’s neck size. Some dogs also prefer a wider or thinner collar.
